What is SMT red glue? What are its main applications? How does it work?

SMT red glue is a single-component epoxy resin adhesive that cures rapidly after heat storage at room temperature and allows low-temperature curing.
Its “shear thinning” viscosity characteristics and low moisture absorption make it suitable for SMT the process with normal temperature hole plate printing, very easy to control the shape of the adhesive dot, stable storage, and excellent heat resistance and electrical properties.


SMT red glue applications

SMT red glue is used on printing presses or dispensing machines. The advantages of the printing method are high speed and efficiency.


SMT red glue use:


1. To maintain the quality of SMD adhesive, please store it in the refrigerator under refrigeration (5±3℃).
2. from the refrigerator before use, should be placed at room temperature back to warm.
3. You can use toluene or ethyl acetate to clean the glue tube.
Dispense glue
1. Adding a back plug in the dispensing tube can get a more stable dispensing volume.
2. The recommended dispensing temperature is 30-35℃.
3. When dispensing the dispensing tube, please use a special glue dispenser for dispensing to prevent mixing air bubbles in the glue.
Scraping: The recommended scraping temperature is 30-35℃.
Note: After the red glue is removed from the refrigerated environment, it must not be opened for use until it reaches room temperature. To avoid contamination of the original product, any used patch glue must not be poured back into the original package.
Process method.

SMT red glue process method:

  1. Printing method
    Stencil engraving holes to be decided according to the type of parts, the performance of the substrate, its thickness and the size and shape of the hole. The advantage is that it is fast and efficient.
  2. Dispensing method
    Dispensing is to use compressed air to dispense red glue onto the substrate through a special dispensing head. The size of the glue dot, how much, is controlled by time, pressure tube diameter and other parameters, and the dispensing machine has flexible functions. For different parts, we can use different dispensing heads, set parameters to change, and also change the shape and number of glue dots in order to achieve the effect. The disadvantage is that it is easy to have drawing and bubbles, etc. We can adjust the working parameters, speed, time, air pressure and temperature to minimize these disadvantages.
  3. Needle turning method
    A special needle film is dipped into a shallow glue tray with one glue point per needle, and when the glue point touches the substrate, it will be detached from the needle, and the amount of glue can be varied by the shape and diameter of the needle.
